I´ve had a privilege to create something unique to the Great place to work Finland winner company Vincit. I call the project “Imagine anything” because it is pretty accurate way of describing the images that I´ve created for them. Vincit is an IT company located in Tampere, Finland. They wanted me to create something different, unique in terms of visualizating the company teams, people, goals, future, present, past .. everything. It was not about making commercial images to promote company. It was more make empowering images for the company and to the people working there. With these images the company will focus their goals for the future.
The project started by interviewing all the teams, catering small bullets of information what kind of image certain team would like me to create. I said that there are no limits. Imagine anything and I will do my best to create that. Some teams saw the future and their work in scifi environment, mobile team liked to have some new futuristic hologram displays and mobile devices in their pictures. Couple of teams hoped that there would be more women in the teams in the future. One team hoped unicorns shitting diamonds. Ideas that teams had were totally random. Some liked to have Chuck Norris and McGyver themed imaginary, some spaceships, electricity, bug control vechiles and penguins. Robot dinosaur, roller coasters, rocky statue, SWAT training course, Mechs, tesla coils, rockets, ninjas .. you get the point 😀
First of all I sketched all the 10 images by hand, trying to get the location of the image done, and figuring out the main elements and locations for the people. After I got the sketches accepted by the teams, it was time to take the necessary photos of people to the images. I had already made all the needed plans and ideas, so I knew exactly what all the people would be going in the picture.
I had heavy packed shooting day at Vincit office and after that I started making the images one by one.
First image I tacked was team called Mafia. They are mostly Linux programmers so I wanted to have some penguins in their picture. The final image that I came up with was a Zoo like environment where the team members would actually be the penguins. Or kind of wearing penguin suits. I wanted to have someone looking at the penguins, glass wall so the bottom of the water pond can be seen etc. You can see the mood boards and the ideas how the image was constructed below.
This project was not a one man show. I was lucky to know really Talented 3D artist Lassi Pentikäinen, and I asked him to join the project in the early stages. Lassi handled pretty much all the 3D side of the images. I laid out the 3D environment in Blender, and Lassi made all the needed details, elements, objects and also the heavy duty rendering. As I said the 3D modelling side were done with Blender, and the final rendering were done with Octane render.
When I got rendered scape from Lasse, I started adding elements, people, details in Photoshop. Layer after layer and the image started to look more and more as I wanted. Last retouches for the colour and theme in Lightroom and voila, first image done and 9 to go 😀
This project was really interesting since it was not only about the images. It was about this great company who wanted to give something special back to their employees. All the teams visualised their future, needs, good and bad thing through me into these images.
These images will be hung in Vincit Tampere office in big chroma luxe metal prints, reminding them why they are the Greatest place to work in Finland and they will excel to be all the time better.
Thank you Vincit for letting me to be a part of your company in form of making creat images.
